We get asked all of the time for quick golf tips. The question usually comes from someone who has to play in a corporate golf tournament or they are someone who does not play often and they are going on vacation and will have a chance to play a round at a prestigious golf course and are looking for quick golf tips. Here is a list of five free quick golf tips to enjoy your corporate event or vacation.

1. If you have any time before your event to practice, you do need to take advantage of this. Current golf instruction will say that you should spend twice as much time on your short game as you do your full swing. I know, I know, I know. How are you going to get the ball to the green? Without much time before the event, you will improve faster by spending time on getting the ball in the hole as opposed getting the ball just close to the green. If you do not get to play often, chances are that you hit many of your irons close to the same distance. Unless you have time for some golf instruction, this will not be fixed in a short period of time. Get the feel for and mechanics of chipping, pitching and putting.

2. When it comes time to play your round, make sure you loosen up before the round. By loosening up your muscles, you are allowing yourself to relax and prepare your body for the athletic movements you will be making during your round. Your time should also include some time on the practice putting green. You will want to become familiar with the speed of the greens.

3. Grip pressure and arm tension is something that all golfers should monitor during every single swing. Your shoulders and your forearms should not feel like they have any tension in them at all. To give you an example, if you take your grip and hold the club out in front of you with the shaft parallel to the ground. If your shoulders and forearms are relaxed enough then the golf club should drop to the ground. This is the feeling of how relaxed your shoulders and forearms should be during your golf swing.

4. Balance is an underestimated part of the golf swing by most amateurs. In your setup, you will need to check your balance from side to side (left to right) as well as from front to back. You can do this by simply swaying side to side until you feel balanced and do the same from front to back. This will allow you to find your perfect balance. Now the key is once this is found you may need to move closer to the ball or farther away from the ball to stay in balance.

5. Once you start playing your round of golf, leave your ego at home and make and aggressive swing at a conservative target. What does this mean? Do not always go flag hunting on every hole. With not playing very often you are not going to hit every shot where you are looking. Increase your chances of playing better by aiming at the largest part of the green or the part of the green you are most comfortable with trying to hit a golf shot.

Today’s marketplace is flooded with training aids. You can find one for nearly every part of the game. And more and more are being introduced every day. While a training aid won’t lower your golf handicap overnight or replace golf tips, it will help improve your golf game if you work with it faithfully.

The time to use a pitch shot is when there is absolutely no way to put your ball onto the putting surface with a well-struck chip. This golf pitching tips article guides you to when you should use the pitch shot.

You should use a pitch if you have some obstacle or hazard that is sitting between your golf ball and the green. In addition, you should pitch when the pin is positioned very close to the edge of the green, leaving you no room for the ball to roll. Pitching requires you to use a longer swing with a lot more wrist action. Usually played with wedges, pitch shots are higher and longer chips.

Moreover, use a pitch when your golf ball lies in deep rough requiring a longer and more forceful swing to get up and out. If hit properly, the pitch shot will spin enough to stop promptly, getting it close to the hole.

If for instance, you tried to hit a chip shot over a bunker, the golf ball would go in the sand missing the green entirely. Also, if you tried to hit a chip shot from the rough 9 feet out from the green to a hole located 3 feet from the fringe, the ball would probably just roll by the pin and leave you with a long putt. The pitch helps you to avoid obstacles, escape the rough, and stop the ball quickly as close to the flagstick as possible.

Perfecting the pitch

Pitches are tougher to master than chips, which is one rationale for choosing a chip over a pitch if at all possible. Because the swing is longer, pitches are difficult perfect. The shot requires a tremendous amount of feel wherein a chip is a more mechanical swing. With the long partial swing, many golfers decelerate on the downswing, causing poor contact with the ball and a bad outcome.

Controlling Spin

Pitch shots are useful when your ball is lying 30 to 60 yards short of the green. The distance suggests you cannot take a full swing with any golf club which makes a pitch shot necessary. The way to have success on the putting greens is to remember to keep your system and routine as simple as possible. Putting is an entirely personal thing and I think that is the way that it should be. It should be your own style. There is really no right or wrong way on how to setup or stand over the ball. Then you have to try to keep all of the precise and mechanical thoughts out of the way. You want to think of the pace you want the ball to roll and how far right or left of the hole the ball should travel. You want to think of it this way; the object is to see how close you can come to the hole each time. One of the nice things about this is that, if the ball goes in, it is a bonus. If you have watched the sport over the years, you know that there have been very successful putters, with very radical styles. That tells you that you can do whatever is comfortable for you.

Here are some putting tips that should help you.

1.) You need to be relaxed and comfortable before you putt. If your body is tense and your arms are as stiff as boards and don’t forget all the other tensing up things that are done prior to hitting the ball, your success rate is not going to be very good. Stay relaxed…

2.) If you want to make more putts, you need to strike the ball in the middle of the putter face. You can usually hear and feel a solidly struck putt. This should be your #1 goal, to hit the ball in the middle of the putter face. By the way, a lot of putts miss because they were not hit in the middle of the clubface. Not because you picked the wrong line or speed.

3.) Try not to change your putting stroke to often, just try to hit the ball solidly each time.

4.) One of the main keys is your tempo – back and through. It doesn’t matter if your tempo is fast, slow or in between, just be consistent with it back and then through.

5.) Try not to get to anxious and see what the ball is doing, stay down and through the putt. Don’t PEEK. Chances are if you PEEKED, you probably watched another putt miss the cup. This is another reason putts miss, is because you get quick picking your head up. This will also cause you not to hit the ball squarely in the center of the putter face. Don’t forget, this is a very natural occurrence to want to see where the ball is going before it’s gone. Everybody has this problem even the pros. Try this, count to one after you strike the ball in order for you to remain down and through the putt.

If you watch Anika and Tiger, they could have a 5-10 ft putt, and their heads are barely coming up when the ball is going into the hole. That should tell you something right there. Keep that head down and the rest of the body will follow by also staying down. By following these guidelines and remember that the object is to see how close you can get the ball to the hole, and you should see improvement in your putting.

This style requires a firm stroke with a firm grip. The takeaway is short, the finish long. Due to the short takeaway, the impact must drive the ball down the target line. The beginning golfer needs to determine his own putting personality. Take these three putting principles to the putting green and try them on. It may be more productive to sample one style at a time. Spend a day working on each stroke. Make 10 short putts in a row. Gradually extend your distance. Finally sample some long putts.

The beginning golfer needs to have confidence that every four foot putt is automatic. If one of these styles does not generate that confidence, eliminate it. Equally important is the confidence that we can get our thirty foot putts within a three foot radius. Whichever style our beginning golfer chooses, the posture and balance must be maintained and the blade must be square at impact.

This is what you want; a descending blow instead of hitting up on the golf ball.

2. The second aspect is to make sure that you have the correct ball position. Typically your driver should be even with your left heel, which means the five irons should be about 2 inches behind that. you move the ball accordingly for each iron, with the 9 iron being in about the middle of the stance.

3. The third thing that you need to do is focus on your tempo. This is really true with all clubs, but important with irons because most irons are steel shafts, and thus we try to hit them harder but one of the best golf iron tips I have heard is to swing smooth and keep your head on the ball.
