Every golfer has done it. You step up to the tee, all full of confidence and concentration then boom! Your shot goes straight into the bushes and you are stuck with that stupid and embarrassed look on your face of what went wrong.

There is no feeling worse, especially if you are a very competitive like most golfers are. Once you have come to grips with the fact that all your friends and or co workers are laughing at your slice you start to replay your swing in your head and you can’t for the life of you figure out where it went from sweet drive down the fairway to in a bird’s nest.

First off, no one ever has a consistently good swing. The pros have it more than others, but they play everyday and get paid millions of dollars to do it so don’t ever compare yourself to a pro no matter how good you are. Secondly, when you have a golf swing slice it is usually because of small alteration in during your swing. Maybe you are not following through or keeping hands interlocked on the golf club. It might be that are taking your eye off the ball just before you make contact or once you do connect with the ball you twist your wrists resulting in your slice into the trees or bushes.

One of the best ways to figure out what you are doing wrong is to have a friend make a video of your swing either on a camera or even on something as simple as your cell phone if it is compatible. Once you have taped about three swings or so, take look either when you get home or right on the golf course and see if there is noticeably wrong.

Hitting the dreaded golf slice. Are you a victim of it? Have you tried to fix your golf slice but with no success? There are a couple of causes of a golf slice and using a training aid may be the answer.

The slice is caused by a your clubface coming across your ball at impact. Swiping it…instead of hitting directly behind the back of the ball. In fact hitting from the inside is something you might want to try to go the exact opposite as you are doing now.

The basic move a slicer does is coming “over-the-top” with the upper body before the lower body clears. This action causes an outside to in swing path, and the result is a side spin that creates the slice.

There are several training aids that can help you correct this move and fix your golf slice forever!

These training aids drill into your brain the correct move and the repeatable muscle memory to do it over and over again. Once your body feels the right way to do it, you will know how to correct it quickly when it happens again during play.

Another quick fix for your golf slice is your grip. Strengthening your left hand (for a right-handed) golfer will close the clubface at impact, instead of it being closed. The only issue here is if you still have that over the top move and your clubface is closed at impact, it will be a big pull.

Also, focusing on maintaining your exact spine angle and rotating around it will give you a good chance at solid ball contact. Rotating your upper body around a fixed spine angle (like a rotissery ) will keep you from coming over the top.

The slice can be a very frustrating ball flight to watch, but with a concerted effort and the right training aid, you will successfully fix your golf slice!

Knowing how to hit a driver straight is key for improving your game. There are a couple elements to hitting the ball well with this club.

The stance

No matter what secrets you might want to hear about improving your swing, having a sound stance is critical and can’t be overlooked. Many players forget about this pay the price, because you simply can’t ignore the foundation of the swing and expect to hit a good shot.

Make sure you widen your stance to slightly more than shoulder length which will help you achieve better balance throughout the swing. Keeping your stance too narrow will free up the swing but will likewise make you more wobbly because you don’t have a good base and is not the right method for how to hit a driver straight.

Keep the clubhead on plane

At the top of your swing you want to be certain that the clubface is pointed towards the target. The ideal position is having your hands higher than your back shoulder and at the same time having the club angling towards the area you want the ball to go.

Check out just about any tour players’ positions at the top of their swing; while they have different paths of getting there, in just about every case the club is always pointing in the direction they want the ball to travel in.

No discussion on the driver swing would be complete without a tip on gaining distance. To get more distance you will need to do 2 things-increase your shoulder turn and resist with the hips. This is why tour players hit the ball so much farther than most players, because they are stronger and more flexible and therefore can turn farther.

There are so many golf swing tips out there that promise to fix a slice, add distance and accuracy to your shots, and lower your scores, that sometimes it is difficult to decide on which drills and tips to follow. Slicing is not fun, and neither is being embarrassed about your golf game, both of which go hand in hand. We all strive to shoot our first, under par round, but it doesn’t come without hard work.

One of my most favorite golf swing tips that can help you fix your slice involves two simple steps around one simple principle. The one simple principle is (and no I won’t put some big fancy word here to make myself look smart): swing softly, smoothly, and all of the way through the ball. In other words, don’t try to add swing speed by trying to swing as hard as you can. This is, by far in my opinion, one of the worst things that you can do. But how do you go about doing this?

1) Grip the club lightly. One way that you can do this is by holding the club out, perpendicular from your body with your arms , with it pointing to the sky, and grip just enough to where the club does not fall or fly out of your hands. This will give your arms less control over your golf swing and allow the club to do the work, which can ultimately help you cure your slice.

2) Follow through all of the way. Make sure that you hold your balanced follow through, all of the way, until the ball hits the ground and you will notice a difference in your game.
